Year 5 all spent the first day of the Summer Term investigating forces. Firstly we explored the effect of friction on movement and then the children took on the team challenge, of creating a parachute, to lower an egg safely to the ground, as slowly as possible. Year 5 had a fabulous day designing and making Rainforest bird watching shelters. We were extremely impressed with the children's team work, designing and making skills. The shelters are on display in the classrooms if you would like to pop in and admire them!
What a wonderful day we had! The children absolutely loved getting stuck into Samba drumming, headdress making, dancing and our spectacular Carnival at the end of the day! Have a look at some of our pictures to get a sense of the day:

Year 5 worked really hard to create an animation movie entitled: What Made Alfred Great? Here's one that particularly impressed me!
Both year 5 classes are currently doing a great job of combining map reading and endurance running in their PE sessions.
