Good morning Year 4,

We hope you have all had a great start to your week  😊. Today is Wednesday and what a change from a couple of weeks ago when we were freezing in the snow!

As you’ll see from her morning greeting Mrs Avery is a fan of Wednesdays. What’s your favourite day?

In her class greeting this morning, Mrs Avery has found a happy jingle about Wednesdays!

Your next Teams’ meeting will be tomorrow at 9:00 am. The next assignment will be on Friday, but you’ll be starting it during Science this afternoon.

We’ve pasted a quick reminder of your daily routine here to help you keep track of what you should be doing, but you can do this in an order that suits your working pattern at home.

Literacy

Warm-up: Keep practising your spellings. This week: Week 7: Challenge words. These are the Year 3 and 4 Statutory words. You’re expected to be able to spell them correctly in your writing by the end of Year 4. They are a challenge because they don’t necessarily follow any of the rules that we cover.

Spelling weeks 7 and 8

Main task:  Today we’re going to look at the first few pages of our new story. Your task this morning is to predict what you think the story will be about based on what you already know about traditional stories and what you see in the picture.

This week we’re going to begin our new unit of work in Science. There’s a lot of information in today’s lesson but we still think you will have time to begin your final activity. You’ll have plenty of time to finish it off on Friday before you submit through Teams. For more information follow the video:

Your knowledge organiser for this unit: Digestion knowledge organiser

Digestive system to copy or to label: Science Activity 1 label parts

Activity 2: As the site we have used previously was built with Adobe Flash a lot of people are having Trouble accessing it.

Alternatively please use the BBC website: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z27kng8

to complete you research. You should look at the following sections:

WHAT IS THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM?

WHAT HAPENS TO FOOD IN YOUR MOUTH?

WHAT HAPPENS IN YOUR STOMACH?

WHAT HAPPENS IN YOUR INTESTINES?

And use the information to change your labelled poster into an interactive and informative flap poster.

Remember this will be Friday’s activity too, so there is no need to rush.

Well done you’ve reached the end of Wednesday. Don’t forget to login in for your Teams’ meeting tomorrow morning at 9:00 am.

See you all tomorrow.
