Dear Parents and Carers,

On Thursday 4th March it is World Book Day.  Despite things being a little different this year we still plan to spend the whole day celebrating our love of books and reading!  The theme is ‘Share A Story’ and our activities at home and in school will be focused around this.

As the children will be doing some work on the day based around a story they would like to ‘share’, it would be good if they could start thinking about what that story could be. For the purpose of the lesson it needs to be relatively short and include a good variety of characters, preferably a villain!

All the activities for the day will be uploaded as usual next week but there is one activity that we felt we would like to give you prior notice of. We would like the children to make a mask of their favourite book character. The children will need to have made their masks before Thursday as we plan to have a Year 2 Teams assembly at 9.30am on World Book Day with the children wearing their favourite character masks.  This will include all children at home and in school.  If your child is in school on Monday 1st and Tuesday 2nd, then the masks will be made in class so there is no need to make one at home.  If they make it at school and will not be in on Thursday, then we will make sure that the masks come home with them so they have them ready for the day or they could make one at home to wear instead.

We have provided a link to a mask template below which can be used to make the mask or alternatively you could follow your own design.

We are looking forward to it! And can’t wait to see who everyone comes as!
