We spent this week learning about the rationing that took place during WW2. We learned about the different foods that were rationed and learned why this had taken place. We discussed the fact that this made certain foods ‘special’ and something to look forward to. We even thought about the ways a community might share or pool their ration. With this in mind, we decided to pool our sugar and butter ration to make a special Friday treat – WW2 shortbread! We had a great time baking and enjoying something sweet.
