Hello and Happy World Book Day!

At Abbey Road we are very passionate about reading so we are so excited to spend the whole day celebrating our love of reading books!  An American children’s author called Mary Pope Osborne said, “Reading is a passport to countless adventures” and we could not agree more.  Reading takes you to other worlds, it is something to be enjoyed and we love nothing more than seeing children develop that love of reading for pleasure.  Most importantly, we love hearing children talk about the books they love, therefore sharing their love of stories which today’s theme is all about.

Following is a suggested outline for the day:

Scheduled Events:

9.30am: Year 2 Teams Meeting with Mrs Phillips and Mrs Horton in your World Book Day Character Masks!  Check your Teams Calendar to access the  meeting.

Tasks to be completed:

Task One 

Record yourself sharing your favourite story and share it with a family member.  Your story needs to be relatively short and will preferably include a villain!  To find out more, watch Mrs Phillips explain today’s task  here.
