Home Learning Letter – Year 2

WB 11.1.21

Dear Parents/Carers,

Whilst learning from home, there will be a suggested timetable of activities for the children to complete each day. These are the activities that children would have completed if they were in school. We understand that learning from home looks different for each family, and so please use the timetable to suit your family. Please also encourage the children to keep active during this time – this may be by using ‘Just Dance’ videos or games in the house.

This post outlines work for Monday 11th January. Further guidance for the week will be uploaded in due course. When completing tasks, children can either do so electronically (via Microsoft PowerPoint or Word) or by recording work on separate sheets of paper or a notepad.

We will be setting two assignments via Teams a week, these tasks must be completed and submitted for feedback. If you have any technical issues when using Teams please contact the school office for support.

MRS TOOM’S MONDAY ASSEMBLY

GUIDED READING

Use this power-point. It is narrated and the comprehension answers are given on the second slide. The comprehension skills we are practising today are Explaining, Predicting and Vocabulary.

LITERACY

Mondays will be our spelling lesson. Use this power-point to teach the rule. Here is a vowel rap to help learn the short vowel sounds. There are also spelling activities on the power-point for the children to complete. Please note: an assignment will be set on the Spelling Shed app on Friday.

MATHS

We are continuing to focus on money. Today we are combining pounds and pence. If you are unable to answer a question or print the sheets, please discuss the question, and do what you can for each without printing. Try using real money to support this task and record any answers on a piece of paper or in a notebook.

Watch the video below and then complete this worksheet. These worksheets increase in difficulty, therefore please work at your child’s own pace and ability
