This week in Forest School, Year 3 investigated Stonehenge.  We set the children the challenge of trying to work out how the stone age people had managed to move the large stones from Wales to the site in Wiltshire.  Without the use of JCBs and lorries how could this happen?  Nobody knows for sure, but some believe that they used tree trunks as rollers.  This would have taken a very long time!

Using cardboard tubes (as tree trunks) the children had a go at this and were also inquisitive as to how they would have lifted the trunks and moved them too!

We then worked in small groups to make some Stonehenge models using the loose parts in Forest School, finishing our session with hot chocolate and enormous toasted marshmallows!
