We have had a few conversations with parents recently who have been keen to find recommendations of books that are slightly more mature than David Walliams book or ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’. While these books are great at engaging young readers and helping develop a love for stories, we do like to encourage Year 4 children to eventually move on to longer, more complex narratives. These offer more interesting plots, exposure to new vocabulary and explore slightly more mature themes which is beneficial as children grow in their reading ability.
To help guide you, this link offers a range of options grouped into different categories. Great as your considering what to get your child for Christmas.
Mrs Turner also offers lots of recommendations and reading news through this page of the school website.
