We recognise the importance of being both physically and mentally healthy in today’s times. How we get there is different for everyone, but always takes training and practice.

This sectionof our website has been set up to help children and families explore different ways of supporting our own and each other’s well-being. It will be updated regularly with activities, recommended stories and ideas suitable for all ages!

Please let us know if there is anything you have seen or used that you think would make a good addition.

If you work with local people, or need information yourself as a resident of Nottinghamshire, then www.nottshelpyourself.org.uk is the best place to start.

Parenting Workshop Slides (March 2023)

March 2023 saw our parent workshop in school,  discussing how to understand and manage challenging behaviours, led by the Tackling Emerging Threats to Children Team. Although not all slides will make sense on their own, the presentation includes informative video clips and several useful links to resources at the end, which we thought were important to share. There is also our family support board in the school reception too for support and guidance.

Perhaps race has always been a topic of regular discussion in your family, or perhaps you feel unsure about how to approach the topic of race with your family. Perhaps you grew up never talking about race, or perhaps you regularly face discrimination.

This guide aims to provide resources, advice, and tips to ensure that children are aware of racial inequality, racial hierarchies, and white privilege present in modern-day society, as well as share tools and knowledge in which to combat racism today.

Just as we look after our physical health, it’s important to look after our mental health. This booklet is from the Anna Frued National Centre for Children’s Services and is offering a guide on how best to support children’s emotional well-being throughout the summer break. It lists a range of activities and ideas that you can try.

We have shared the ELSA website with parents before, but this FREE section is specifically around our current situation, helping children to understand what is happening in a safe way, promoting positivity and fun challenges along  the way. (The website also has a free friday resource, giving away one of the resources from another section of the site that you would normally pay for.)

In the midst of such a confusing time for children, this book about coronavirusis specifically designed for children and provides all the information they need in a child-friendly format.
