“There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island.”  — Walt Disney.

Today 3M visited the library and thoroughly enjoyed listening to stories read aloud, sharing books with friends and choosing books to read for pleasure at home. It was so lovely to see all of the children with huge smiles on their faces and arms full of books (some children were rather ambitious with how many books they could carry back to school but we made it!). Thank you very much to our parent volunteers for joining us!

Whilst visiting, the librarian told us all about the ‘Winter Mini Reading Challenge’. Children aged 4 – 11 are invited to join the Gadgeteers as they use their ingenuity and creative skills to keep everyone entertained during snowstorm. There will be do-it-at home experiments and learning along the way as children read for pleasure with the Winter Mini Challenge.

How it works

The Winter Mini Challenge is run online through the Winter Mini Challenge website. To take part, children simply read three or more books of their choice between 1 December 2022 and 20 February 2023 and add them to an online profile at www.wintermini.org.uk

Children will unlock digital rewards including a limited-edition virtual badge and a special Winter Mini Challenge certificate to print off and keep. Inspire Libraries have thousands of books to help children on their winter reading adventure.

We would love to hear how you get on if you do decide to join in! 🙂
