This week Year 3 have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about pneumatic systems and how they work.

On Monday we used a stomp rocket to show when the air is compressed it causes the rocket to launch. We then explored how air pressure can be used to produce and control movement using syringes, tubes and balloons.

On Tuesday we then planned and designed our own Chinese-inspired dragons. The only instructions were that it had to contain a simple pneumatic system and had to be eye-catching. The designs were all extremely creative. Then we brought all of the fantastic designs to life and created our dragons. We have now evaluated our creations and it’s clear it was a huge success as everyone managed to create a moving dragon by using a simple pneumatic device.

Your creativity and perseverance have been marvellous Year 3. We hope you enjoyed this D&T unit, we know we have!
