This week as part of our magic-themed World Book Day celebrations we have been immersing ourselves in a new book ‘The Day I Fell Into A Fairytale’. In the book we meet a young girl called Lana who is rather bored as her brother claims he’s ‘too old’ to play games anymore. As it’s the school holidays and she has nothing to do Lana goes with her mum to do the food shop when she finds herself being sucked through a magic portal in the sweet aisle. Lana wakes up and discovers that she’s fallen into a faraway land. She then travels through lots of familiar settings and meets many of our favourite fairytale characters along the way. When Lana ends up in a spot of bother, she is relieved to see that her brother has come to her rescue but they now have the tricky task of getting back home!
As we are enjoying the book so much, this afternoon we took our magic theme outside and challenged the children to create a magic potion. We were very impressed by their imaginations, creating potions that did all sorts of exciting things from being able to talk with animals to everything you touch turning into sweets!
To finish the session we then enjoyed our very own ‘magic wands’ which were breadsticks topped with chocolate melted on the fire and sprinkles.
Well done for another fantastic session Year 3!
