This week we have been learning all about pirates and mermaids.

English

On Tuesday, Pesky Pirate Pete stole Rainbow and Sunshine bear! The children had to write letters to Pirate Pete to ask for the bears back. The children did a great job with writing the initial sounds for Rainbow and Sunshine bear, some children even had a go at writing some words!

Geography

Pirate Pete received these letters and gave the children a treasure map to find the bears. The children followed the map carefully, and we talked about which direction we needed to go in and what we could see on the map. Eventually… WE FOUND THE BEARS! Well done Sunshines and Rainbows!

Maths

In maths, the children had to walk the plank. ARGGHHHHHH! The children walked the plank, then had to choose a numeral from 1-6 and then played an instrument that many times. They were great pirates.

Expressive Arts and Design

We have some artists in our class! The children have been creating some beautiful parrots to say thank you to Pirate Pete. They carefully used confetti and feathered to decorate their parrot. Outside, the children were also being creative by creating some fabulous dances to music. We talked about the different ways a mermaid/ pirate would dance.

Pirate and Mermaid day

What a way to end the week! We had such a fun day on Friday having a mermaid and pirate party. The children dressed up as a pirate or a mermaid and we danced like pirates, played pirate games, and even made mermaid tails!
