It’s official – we are now half-way through the school year! Hasn’t the time flown by? What a lovely, sunny welcome to the Spring 2 term we have had!

We have launched our Superheroes topic. We have been enjoying lots of exciting superhero stories, made our own superhero accessories such as masks and special belts and turned ourselves into superheroes and labelled our special powers. We have also been solving lots of superhero problems in maths.

Here are some photos from our Finger Gym:

  • rescuing animals from the giant web using tweezers,
  • using dough to make things for different superheroes,
  • making our own creations using card, scissors, hole punch, split pins and treasury tags,
  • colouring and cutting superheroes,
  • writing ‘-at’ words (eg: hat, mat, cat).

We have enjoyed some investigative science this week;

Can you move the train without touching it?

How can you protect the “Super Egg” from cracking when it is dropped from height?

Here are some photographs from Welly Wednesday. We had such a wonderful time taking out learning outside. We’re really sorry for any confusion caused with regards to changing the day. Just to clarify… Welly Wednesday will now be Forest School Friday (starting 8th March). Forest School Friday will take place every Friday (unless we let you know otherwise). Please send children in to school dressed in their Forest School Friday clothes. Please check the weather forecast and dress your child accordingly. Do pop in and speak to a member of staff if you have any questions 🙂 Your understanding and patience is appreciated!

Here are a couple more snaps of our fun and learning this week…

Next week, we will be celebrating the wonderfulness of books, not just on World Book Day (7th March), but all week! Parents and Carers are very welcome to join us in Foundation first thing on Thursday morning for some lovely, relaxing reading time (roughly 15-20mins). The theme for Abbey Road’s World Book Day this year is Imagining the Impossible – Bedtime Stories. Staff and children can come to school dressed in their Pyjamas for the day on Thursday.

Happy Weekend! 🙂
