As part of the ‘Our World’ topic this week we read ‘The tale of a toothbrush’- G Leonard. We followed the journey of a discarded toothbrush from the bin to the ocean. The children have been saving our world by using nets to clear out plastic from the water tray, they have used tweezers to pick up litter from our small world beach. Perhaps the busiest area in Foundation this week has been our recycling centre the children have been super at sorting waste into the correct containers.
We have been so impressed with the progress we have seen in writing. Your children have been writing lots they have been writing sentences about our beautiful coral reef and even had a go at writing their own ‘Journey of a …’ stories. We wanted them to think of their own ideas inspired by the toothbrush, they have great imagination. Our stories have featured a lost shoe, water bottles and unwanted toys to name a few!
In Maths this week we have been learning about time, we have sequenced our daily timetables and are learning the order of the days of the week.
Throughout the remainder of the term our message is:
Re-use, Reduce, Recycle
The children continue to think creatively an re-use rubbish.
Here are some photos from our music, art and technology sessions. In music, we have been writing our own music using simple symbols. In art, we made some beautiful Rainbow Fish. In technology, we have been creating our own tracks for the Bee-Bots.
