This week we have really enjoyed learning all about the police! We have loved being in role as police officers and playing in the police station. We have enjoyed some challenges linked to our police theme including colouring by number and matching numerals on police cars to different representations of numbers on police officers.

One of the highlights of our week has definitely been our visit from two real police officers! They talked to us about the things police do, what kind of equipment they use and what they wear. We really loved seeing the police car!

World Book Day

Another visitor came to Foundation this week – Mike the Storyteller! We had so much fun joining in with stories and singing songs.

Everyone looked so wonderful in their outfits to celebrate World Book Day, thank you for all the effort you went to. We had a lovely day enjoying stories together. We read the whole of The Enormous Crocodile which we read throughout the day, it was a long story but we loved it! We also did some writing about what we thought the enormous crocodile might say, Mike the Storyteller will be coming back to school to choose a the winning piece of writing soon…this will be very tough as everyone did such an amazing job with their writing!

Phonics – this week we have learned ‘oy’ as in ‘joy’ and ‘ou’ as in ‘proud’.

Next week we will be learning all about paramedics and ambulances.

Just a reminder about bringing in snacks – children are very welcome to bring in a piece of fruit to eat during the school day. Please do not send yoghurts, cereal bars or fruit winders etc as this is unfair on the other children. We have fruit / vegetable snacks available every day in school. Water bottles should be filled with water please, not juice. Thank you 🙂

Have a fab weekend!
