Recently Abbey Road were contacted about a “Home for Wildlife” Nature Competition put together by the Notts Outdoors team and a local councillor. The competition encourages children to think about the types of wildlife that live around them, the habitats they need for survival and for them to use their imagination to come up with a winning design.
In groups, the children spent part of the afternoon designing a home for either animals, birds or bugs. It was so lovely to see how passionate the children were and see their imaginations shine through when designing, drawing and labelling a suitable home. We have sent off our competition entrees and will keep the children posted on how we did (there are some very exciting prizes up for grabs).
Whilst on the theme of looking after the environment we then went on a (clearly much needed) litter pick around the school grounds. The children were all fantastic and as you can see from the photos managed to collect lots of litter. To celebrate our hard work we then enjoyed a hot chocolate and s’more by the camp fire. Thank you Year 3 for a wonderful afternoon!
