Week 2- Goldilocks and the Three Bears

The children have loved using the Three Bears Cottage to act out the story so much, we kept it for another week! In maths we used the balance scales to measure porridge oats to match Daddy, Mummy and Baby bear. The children then sorted the bowls into size and weight order. In writing the children had a go at independently writing a phrase that Goldilocks would of used…”It is too hot” “It is too lumpy” or “It is just right”.

Our construction challenge this week has been to design and build a new cottage for the three bears. We  have seen some splendid models.

We have been having a wonderful time in PE learning lots of Gymnastics skills including balancing, going over, going under, jumping in to a “magic seat”, log rolls, hopping, jumping, moving like different animals. It has been amazing to see the children grow in confidence each week. 🙂

Here are some photos from one of our maths sessions where we made 8 in different ways…

Next week we will be focusing our learning around a new fairytale – The Gingerbread Man.
