We have had a very busy couple of weeks in Year 2 and we have enjoyed every minute of it. We thought we’d share some of the fantastic things the children have been up to.
In our art lessons we have been inspired by the artwork of L.S. Lowry sketching, painting and using pastels/charcoal to create our own artwork in his style.
In music we have been learning to play the glockenspiel.
In our English lessons we have been reading a book called ‘Dear Teacher’, which is all about the (very imaginative) excuses Michael tells his teacher as to why he can’t do his homework which he writes in a letter. We have been planning and writing our own letters to Mrs Toom, explaining why we can’t possibly do any homework in the holidays, which we will be sending to her later this week. We have loved hearing all the brilliant ideas the children have come up with. Varying from being trapped in Disneyland playing dress-up with princess, being kidnapped by pirates and even being sucked down the plughole and being trapped by mermaids! The children have really loved running with their ideas and we have equally loved hearing them so animated and excited by them.
As we are writing letters to Mrs Toom, we have transformed our choosing area into a post office.
Well done Year 2!
