Good morning everybody. We hope you had a fabulous half-term and managed to get out and about. It was good to feel the sun on our faces occasionally.
We know that you will be full of energy and ready to go this morning. But just in case you have forgotten – there is a class Teams meeting happening at 9:00 am so get yourself logged in to your Teams account and ready to say Hello to your classmates.
This week our Teams meetings will be today and Thursday at 9:00 am. Your Teams Assignments will be on Tuesday (Literacy) and Friday (Science).
We’ve posted a daily timetable to show and remind you what is coming up next today:
Following the teams meeting, watch Mrs Toom’s assembly by following this link: https://youtu.be/NhYvJJA5ECg
This week in Guided Reading we’re going to recap some of your Year 3 Science work. This will make sure we have a good framework on which to build our Year 4 work on Humans.

Literacy
Warm-up: Keep practising your spellings. This week: Week 7: Challenge words. These are the Year 3 and 4 Statutory words. You’re expected to be able to spell them correctly in your writing by the end of Year 4. They are a challenge because they don’t necessarily follow any of the rules that we cover.
Spelling weeks 7 and 8
Main task: We’re starting a new book today and we think you’ll like it. To find out more watch Mr Marshall’s video: https://youtu.be/45xhiJGD7ak
To complete your task you may want to download one of the comic strips shown here or just use them to inspire your own design:

Warm-up: Keep practising your times-tables either using Times-Tables Rockstars or whatever method works for you.
We’ve posted the extra times-tables sheet here again. We’ll put them up every Monday so they are easy for you to find during the week. Don’t try to do them all at once. Try a different one every day or focus on one particular set that you are struggling with. Know your 2’s, 5’s and 10’s first, then tackle the 4’s and 8’s, followed by the 3’s, 6’s and 9’s and at the end do the 7’s, 11’s and 12’s.

Main task: Today we’re going to recap written methods for Multiplication with Mrs Avery. We did a lot of work on this last half-term so we want to check that we still know how to tackle these some times tricky calculations.

SPANISH
¡Hola!
This half-term we will be learning some more Spanish as we did in the Autumn term. We will still be using the site Language Angels as we do in school so the children should be very used to this. We feel most children in the year group should be able to complete the lessons independently but they may need support with the initial logging in to the website.
Please follow the link https://www.languageangels.com/homeschool/ and select:
Use the following;
Username- AbbeyR1403
Password- lahome
Please note the password and username are case sensitive.
Once logged in, select Unit 8:¿Qué Fecha Es Hoy? (What Is The Date?) from the ‘Intermediate level challenge’ section.
Today we will use lesson 1. In this lesson you will learn how to say all twelve months in Spanish.
Once you have selected Lesson 1, you will see that in addition to the lesson, you can also access worksheets and answers. There is no need to print these, you can complete them on paper. There are also games and songs you can access.
When you click on to the games you could also access games to play on our previous areas of learning such as Habitats and My house (Mi Casa). Have fun!
Art: Drawing
Today we will start our next Art unit. In this unit we will recap some of the work we did on technique in Autumn but our main focus will be on drawing bodies.
This week we will have a quick look at some famous artists through the ages before we look more closely at Leonardo da Vinci and one of his most famous works: The Mona Lisa.
