Run, run as fast as you can, you can’t catch me I’m the … Gingerbread Man!! This week at home and at school we have had a lot of fun sharing the story of the Gingerbread Man. At school we have made our own lolly pop stick puppets with the characters from the story, built houses for the gingerbread family and made sure that he had enough buttons by recognising numerals, counting out buttons and pom poms and using tweezers to place them on to the gingerbread man!

We also have been creative in lots of different ways – playing dress up in the princess costumes, making porridge in the Three Bears Kitchen, making our own collage Gingerbread Men and painting him too!

On Friday, everyone’s task (both at home and school) was to make their own Gingerbread Men. We had a lot of fun measuring and weighing out all the ingredients and then mixing it and rolling it out so that we could cut out and decorate our own. At lunchtime the adults decided to set up a secret camera to make sure that the Gingerbread Men didn’t run away!

It sure was a surprise! After watching the video the children launched into investigating where they went, how they could get them to come back and even set up a trap – lots of amazing imagination and creativity!

And who could have guessed that it would snow! The children were so excited and couldn’t wait to go out and explore in it!
