GUIDED READING

For today’s Guided Reading click here.

The focus today is on vocabulary.  Listen to Mrs Horton read out a set of instructions for making rocky road and follow her tips for working out what a word means if we are not sure.

LITERACY

In Literacy this week we are continuing with reading and writing instructions. Please work through this powerpoint for today’s task which is writing a set of instructions for washing your hands.

MATHS

We are continuing to focus on money. Today we are looking at word problems using different notes and coins. If you are unable to answer a question or print the sheets, please discuss the question, and do what you can for each without printing. Try using real money to support this task and record any answers on a piece of paper or in a notebook.

Our maths powerpoints contain multiple videos and animations and as a result are very large files.  Therefore we have had to upload them in two parts.  Work through Part One and then move on to Part Two: Reasoning by clicking on the links below:

Part One

Part Two: Reasoning

Once you have worked through the powerpoints, complete this worksheet.  These worksheets increase in difficulty, therefore please work at your child’s own pace and ability.

If your child lacks confidence in maths or is finding it difficult, then please look at this support ideas power-point to help adapt the work. If you child is still finding it difficult, then please contact us on year2@abbeyroadprimary.co.uk for advice.

ART

This week we are continuing to develop our drawing skills by looking at geometric shapes in art.  Click on this powerpoint for a step by step guide to drawing a still life study of one of the pictures provided.  Please send in photos of your work – we can’t wait to see them!
