Good morning,

We hope that you had a good start to your week yesterday 😊. Below you will find everything that you need for today, Tuesday 12th January.

Have a great day! Remember to keep active and moving. What did you do to keep your body active yesterday? Will you do the same again today or something different? Whatever you decide, try to get some fresh air today as it helps to keep your mind and body feeling happy and healthy.

Guided Reading

Please click here to download your guided reading task for today.

Times Tables Rockstars

Please make sure that you play at least 10 minutes of TTRS each day. See if you can earn some coins to buy something new for your Rockstar, or see if you can challenge a friend to a ‘Rockslam’! Maybe a friend sent you one yesterday that it’s time for you to respond to 😊.

Literacy

In today’s lesson, you will need the facts that you wrote about your chosen planet, so make sure you’ve got these in front of you before you start. Today’s activity will help you to get ready for writing your information text tomorrow! Here is the video lesson.

Maths

Please click here to watch today’s video lesson. Today, we are going to continue learning about area. We really hope that you are joining in with the stem sentences and saying them out loud to yourself at home, well done if you are 😊. It will be so helpful for your understanding and will continue to help you as our learning progresses over the week. Maybe by Friday, it won’t even feel strange to us all to talk to our screens! We will get used to it! Here’s today’s worksheet and here’s the answer sheet to use when you are ready to mark your work.

Music

Today you will start a new unit of learning in music, which links in to our Space topic. Please use this PowerPoint to learn about Gustav Holst and to listen to some of the pieces of music that he composed.

Spelling Shed (through EdShed)

Please continue to practise the spellings /spelling rule that you focused on in Literacy last Friday by playing games on the EdShed website for 10 minutes each day.

Daily Reading

Snuggle up and get cosy with your independent reading book for at least 10 minutes each day (more if you’re reading a good book that you just can’t put down!). Let us know if you’re reading a great book at the moment, we always love hearing your recommendations!

Remember, if you’d like to share any of your work with us today, you can email it to year5@abbeyroadprimary.co.uk 😊
