Home Learning – Wednesday 6th January 2021
Dear parents/carers,
Firstly, we hope that you and all of the children are ok. We know that these are challenging times and we understand that home learning will look different in different households. Please use the timetable we will set out each week as a guide, in a way that suits you and your child. We are always here to offer our support so please do not hesitate to email us on year5@abbeyroadprimary.co.uk.
The timetable below sets out work for Wednesday 6th January. Work for Thursday and Friday will follow and then we will begin a weekly post from next week.
Please note that two tasks per week will be set via Microsoft Teams. We will direct you to Teams on these website posts, so it will be clear when the tasks are to be completed and submitted for feedback in this way. We are hopeful that the homework tasks that we set via teams before Christmas will have helped them to become a little more confident at using this. If you have any problems, please get in touch.
When tasks are not to be completed through Teams, the children can choose how to present their work. We are keen to limit printing wherever possible and are hopeful that the children will either be able to either write their work on paper or notebooks that they have at home, or complete it on the computer (using Word or PowerPoint, for example).

Wonder (class book)

Guided Reading
Please use this PowerPoint. There is a relevant section of text to read as well as some retrieval questions.
Literacy
Over the next few weeks, the children will be working towards writing information texts about planets. Today’s lesson is a research lesson. We would like the children to research facts about a planet of their choice that they will then go onto write their information text about in future lessons. Please use this PowerPoint.
Maths
Throughout the next two weeks, we will be working on ‘Perimeter and Area’. Today is a lesson on perimeter, please use this PowerPoint and this worksheet for the questions. Please do not feel you have to print the worksheet off. The children could draw out the different shapes or write their calculations and answers down on paper, they don’t need to have a printed copy.
